About MeThough a rose is a flower known for loveliness and grace, it also has thorns that make it tough, resilient and strong. I was named Victoria “Rose” after the women in my life that taught me how to epitomize the harmony of that dichotomy, and throughout my personal and professional life I have strived to uphold the namesake.
I was raised in a small town with only one traffic light about 45 minutes outside of Birmingham, Alabama and about 20 minutes from the closest WalMart… My small town soil fertilized my big dreaming and I believe those dreams can continue to become reality with some teeth-gritting hard work and a cheerful heart. Characteristic of my Southern culture, I value thorough work, never meet a stranger and treasure meaningful relationships. I find it natural to know the heart of a community because I view interpersonal communication as an art and a science. As I grew up I also enjoyed helping my mom in the meticulous selection of the perfect centerpiece to compliment Maw-Maw’s fine china for our family dinner. Perhaps to some this detail is small and insignificant, but she taught me no detail was too small to matter when you’re doing work you love for people you love. I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama’s Honors College in May of 2017 with degree in dance and public relations and a specialization in technological and digital communication management. I possess continued interest in internships/ professional development programs and experiences to advance my skills in the public relations and dance fields. |
Dance |
I began dancing at the age of two and competitively at the age of eight. I trained at Encore Performance Company in the ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, modern, hip-hop and tap dance styles. This prepared me to be accepted into the top 15 dance program at The University of Alabama and as a member of the official nationally ranked dance team for the school. I was also selected as a member of the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre pre-professional company. I have had multiple self-choreographed works presented in the Dance Alabama! concert, two in the Dance Collection concert, and performed in over 10 works produced by other students. I was selected as Outstanding Junior in Dance in May 2016. I finished my degree in May of 2017 and will begin training at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in December of 2017. I was selected as Outstanding Sophomore in Public Relations in 2014 and Outstanding Junior in 2015 for Academic Distinction. I received honors for academic achievement in the field of communications from 2014-2017. I recently completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in May of 2017. Throughout my public relations education I am most proud to have served as Account Executive of the Deep Roots Agency for our client The 51st Annual CMA Awards.
